Sustainable Architecture

Sustainable Architecture Diploma Programs:
  • Architectural Technician
  • Architectural Technologist

Sustainable design is "green" design, and its time has come. The objective of sustainable design is to use resources in ways that won't compromise the needs of future generations. As applied to architecture, the principles of sustainability work to:

  • optimize site potential
  • minimize non-renewable energy consumption
  • use environmentally-preferable products
  • protect and conserve water
  • enhance indoor environmental quality
  • optimize operational and maintenance practices

IADT's new Sustainable Architecture - Technology/Technician program reflects these green imperatives. Program graduates can be among the leaders of a new generation of architectural technicians and technologists with the knowledge and skills to take environmental responsibility and sustainability beyond awareness and into action.

These are the attributes that today's graduates need and that architectural and design firms will be looking for as they retool their practices for the sustainable building practices of the future.
